Small Items Sealing Station

Growing out of one customer’s need to ship several human feet to a class of aspiring podiatrists, the patented BioSeal Small Items Sealing Station is specifically designed to accommodate high–frequency processing of fragmented human remains. The system was used to successfully contain and preserve over 21,000 partial remains and personal effects recovered at the site of the World Trade Center after 9/11. This versatile containment system is ideal for disaster responders as well as pathologists, university medical centers and other institutions that need to ship or store small, organic specimens.

  • Absolute containment
The multilayered, metalized BioSeal Systems material meets the strict standards for Biosafety Level 4 containment as set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A BioSeal Systems container seals in offensive odors and hazardous byproducts from infectious diseases and other threatening elements. It also seals out potential contaminants, making it the perfect solution for protecting the integrity of the specimens stored inside.
  • Practical design
The standard BioSeal Small Items Sealing Station comes with a roll of 18–inch wide BioSeal Systems material that has been factory sealed on both sides. And instead of the vertical dispenser that comes with our BioSeal Facility System, this system includes a convenient tabletop dispenser that can heat seal as well as cut, making quick work of creating pouches for your items.
  • Versatile handling
Once sealed, the remains can be safely handled for storage or transport. Pertinent information—shipping instructions, specimen identification and details—can be written directly onto the BioSeal Systems container with an indelible marker. The container can also be easily opened and re–heat sealed as needed.
  • Innovative applications
In addition to its primary use for the containment of partial remains and shipping of body parts, this system lends itself to a number of innovative applications, including the preservation of toxicology trays, containment of suspicious items in mail centers and the shipment of perishable food.
